Take the power back! Happy food equals happy people

At Adore Your Health, the inspiration is to arm readers with as much knowledge as possible.   The feeling is that there is too much that is not said to us (the consumers) in regards to the production of our foods, goods and sometimes services.   Its no secret that its difficult to feel like your always making the right choice.   But here’s the good news..   Every educated purchase that we make is a step towards taking the power back!  We cannot get too wrapped up in every detail or it can become overwhelming.  Rest assured that if you are reading this post, you have likely already made some steps towards being the one in control of what is allowed in to your home and in to your bodies.  And that can be a wonderful feeling!  So take the bits and pieces of the subjects that matter most to you.. and run with it!

Happy Food:  What is happy food to you??  Some days it may be thick and rich homemade macaroni and cheese..  While other days it may be a fresh and crisp pink lady apple (or maybe its both).  We say eat what makes you happy (with moderation, of course) and while doing so, maybe choose the organic version of whatever you enjoy.

Here is yet another way to regain the power.  Information has been circulating about how to decipher the tags that are attached to our produce.  You know, the small stickers  that have a 4 or 5 digit number attached to them… The indication is that these numeric values indicate how the produce was raised.  Keep these codes in mind the next time you are shopping.

5 digit code starting with 9 – Organic produce

5 digit code starting with 8 – GMO or GE produce

4 digit code – conventionally grown – containing pesticides

Hope this helps!  Do you have any tips to avoiding GMO’s or pesticides to share?

  1. I really like this… It’s all about finding that happy spot for you. It’s not about falling into all the hype of what other people are doing. And it’s not about restricting. It’s finding the foods that make you happy and that you feel good about putting in your body. And of course moderation.
